Trip to Canberra today
I paid a flying visit to Canberra today. I’d been invited to speak at an Australian Federal Police (High Tech Crime Centre) event. I left the office in North Sydney at 10:50am and was back home by 6:30pm. Isn’t air … Continue reading

Messing with the layout
I’ve decided that most people have 1024×768 screens now so I’m going to a four column layout here. It’ll be messy until I finish, sorry.

New Ford RS Owners Club (Australia) site
I setup a new web site for the Ford RS Owners Club tonight. It didn’t take long, 4 hours maybe. The guys need a way to easily update the content and a simple CMS was easy to setup.

Speed limit’s going up!
Blimey, I’d never have thought that speed limit’s in Sydney would go UP, but according to the nice people at Sentinel Geo Systems (of Road Angel fame) they are going to by 10kph on 10 major roads. Also reported in … Continue reading

Appears Apple don’t like MP3’s
Well, Apple don’t appear to want me to export my work as an MP3 from either Garageband or iTunes. Come on guys, why not?

Apple’s Garageband
Well my music teacher once said “little ability, matches little effort” on a school report. That summed it up really, which was a shame because mum was great on the piano. Well I’ve just finished my first full length GarageBand … Continue reading

Mac OSX taking a bashing
Apple’s OSX appears to be taking a hit with Symantec’s threat report indicating that threats targetting this platform could be an issue. There are several ZDNet articles and Fran Foo has a good commentary here. Having worked in IT security … Continue reading

Apple market share rises
I read somewhere that the Apple iPod halo theory may actually be happening and that Apple are on their way to 5% share of the desktop. As Microsoft move towards it’s goal of greater interoperability this must surely increase OSX … Continue reading

Britain tops zombie PC charts
The Register reports that Britain (is that just Britain or does it really include Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland?) has more than 25% of the worlds installed ‘zombie’ PC’s. It’s good to see that Australia isn’t in the top ten.

Trustworthy computing
I’ve just read an interesting article titled What price for ‘trusted PC security’? by Bill Thompson on the BBC’s web site. He raises some interesting points about trusted computing and digital rights management. I’d add that while secure, trustworthy computing … Continue reading

The Firefox comment disappeared
The ’.. Firefox..’ comment at http://www.start.com/1/ has gone… maybe someone at MS decided it wasn’t good to be seen to support a competitors offering. Fair enough, I wouldn’t expect Ford to mention Fiat on their web site!
