| I managed Symantec's
Security Response team in Sydney covering the Asia Pacific Region.
We delivered solutions for new 'blended' threats and produce written
analysis of these threats. Examples of our work are the detection,
repair and fix tools for CodeRed, W32.Nimda, W32.Sircam, W32.Bugbear
and many more. We also developed automation systems for Symantec's
California based 24x7 virus analysis facility contributing significantly
to the teams productivity.

| I held various positions joining as the 9th employee and left when the company had revenues of $30M/annum and was later sold for $640M. The majority of my time was in Product Management. To quote the Managing Director at the time I left the company, "David... was a significant contributor to the success of Dr Solomon's". My positions are listed below in reverse order. |
| Head of Product Management. I set up the product manager department, recruited a team of eight professional Product Managers, planned and implemented a successful product diversification program. This team effectively managed the company's software solutions which consisted of anti-virus, encryption, access control and software auditing products. We worked closely with the Sales and Marketing departments to develop various sales, marketing and PR activities including, sales support material, sales training materials, direct mail and upgrade programmes, advertising, user group events, corporate focus groups, packaging, product bundles and product reviews etc. Product Manager, Dr Solomon's Anti-Virus Toolkit I was a key contributor in influencing Dr. Solomon's Anti-Virus Toolkit's strategic direction for several years. This product had 80% UK market share ahead of McAfee and Norton Anti-Virus and was seen as the leading enterprise product. Research & Development Manager. I was managing a team of developers for Dr. Solomon's Anti-Virus Toolkit. I project managed a 6 month project schedule, on time, for a major rewrite, to produce the company's first Windows version of the product. I introduced standards for documentation, source code control and project- based timetables. Technical Support Manager. I was responsible for setting up, staffing and managing the company's Technical Support department focusing on customer satisfaction by implementing rapid, quality support systems using in house developed call centre software. Support and software engineering staff where rotated on the phone queues, this dramatically improves software quality and support team members skill levels. |
